In Honor of Black History Month, Johnny Cochran was inspired by Thurgood Marshall’s victory in the Brown vs. Board of Education, he dedicated his life to practice law believing that it was his calling to help his community. He became internationally famous for the acquittal of O.J. Simpson but his greatest victory came from winning Geronimo Pratt’s freedom after 27 years of being locked up; Pratt was a high ranking officer in the Black Panther movement. Mr. Cochran was able to get his corrupted murder trial over-turned in 1997. As an ambitious Haitian-American, Mr. Cochran motivated me to make a difference in my community by reaching for excellence, while setting a standard for the other young minority professionals. His autobiography, “A Lawyer’s Life,” is an awesome story and happens to be one of my favorite all-time books!
