My Black History Honoree goes to Jesse Owens for his bravery, valor, and class.
In Berlin, Germany, 1936 Olympics, a 23 year old African American, Jesse Owens shattered Nazis belief that the Aryan Race was far more advanced than all races by winning 4 Gold Medals (100m; 200m; 4x100m relay; long jump). Surprisingly, Hitler waved at Mr. Owens for his impressive talents even though our President F.D. Roosevelt didn’t even send a telegram or invite him to the White House for his exceptional victory in the midst of America’s (nearly the world’s) archenemy. He became a highly successful motivational speaker in the 1950s.
